Let’s take a peek now at Kodaka’s household. For some reason, the fatality rate among parents in these stories is tragically high, and like so many anime characters, Kodaka lost his mother when he was little, and his father is working in the United States, so he lives alone with his sister. Yes, fellow siscons, Kodaka has a sister named Kobato. A really cute 13-year-old loli who happens to be like a mini-Kuroneko, for she’s also into gothic lolita fashion and her vocabulary, full of references to the darkness and vampires and stuff, really resembles that of Kirino’s cute friend. But there’s something that makes Kobato a really funny and cute loli, and that’s the fact that she’s always saying all those, as the Japanese would call, chuunibyo lines, while doing so in a very childish, innocent and adorable way.
She also wears a tinted contact lens and is always with a rabbit doll that reminds me of a certain epic imouto. She became like this due to the influence of some anime. Evil anime!
Just like Kuroneko, Kobato claims that her name is just a fake, temporary one. Her real name is… well, it’s difficult to transcribe the katakana but it’s like a weird European aristocratic name. And the setting today seems to be that she’s a vampiress and of course she’s hungry for blood. The tomato sauce they are having with their spaghetti becomes “blood from a virgin” (an image that doesn’t make Kodaka very happy, who says that sadly this is what his imouto is like, although somehow he sounds to me as if he’s just a little too fond of her)
All in all she tries to make her speech sound old-fashioned and majestic, but she ends up being really cute when she does so while saying that she prefers Pepsi to Coca-Cola, or when she complains that her oniichan is always late now that he’s in a club and has been neglecting her a little.
But if you wanted to see Kobato in full glory, after dinner she is going to take a bath, but suddenly she screams and runs out of the bathroom… stark naked, in front of Kodaka. Before she remembers that she’s actually a vampire this week, she complains in a pretty cute way that the bath was cold—the boiler is out of order.
All in all my impression of Kobato is very positive. A cute loli imouto who tries so hard to say those emo lines but who is childishly cute. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of her. She’s in the same school as Kodaka, although the junior high kids are in a separate building, but apparently she joins the “Neighbors Club” later on.
That Sena is into games is pretty obvious by now, so it’s no surprise that when one day Yozora and Kodaka walk into the club room, they find her glued to the screen, playing some game, not even noticing them as she’s wearing earphones. But you know that something hilarious is about to happen when Yozora unplugs her earphones and you can hear the voice coming from the visual novel Sena was playing…
“You… you can’t!!! If you thrust so violently, my pussy is going to be torn off!! Aah… it feels so good, Lucas’ cock feels so good!!!! It’s reaching my uterus!!! Awesome!!! Aaah, I’m… I’m coming!!!”
Imagine Sena, with tears in her eyes, red as a beetroot, asking them not to look.
“What are you playing in this holy place” asks Yozora. Remember that the club room is in the chapel. That makes Sena even more awesome, playing porn games there.
“Don’t mistake it” says Sena, “this is a game that is even going to be made into an anime, Holy Sword Black Star, a very popular visual novel featuring Lucas the Blacksmith and his adventures. In this scene, after many trials, Lucas is showing his love to Lady Cecilia!”
“So you were playing eroge in the club room…”
“I didn’t know it was an eroge! After playing Tokimemo I’ve been playing several games and decided to try this one” and actually, she confesses that, being underage, she didn’t buy it. A guy bought it for her, and as a reward she stepped on him. Damn you evil M guys! Not that I’m jealous or anything.
“This… this pervert!!!” cries Yozora, “this sex maniac, this lecherous kaleidoscope. Don’t even touch me, I might get pregnant from you!!”
“Wait a minute! You don’t understand! This game is art! It has very deep themes! This is just a tiny part of the game! I mean, you can also find these things in art, like Goya’s Maja”
Oh God, not this argument! Hahaha, BokuTomo is starting to get seriously funny and the characters are awesome. In a nutshell, our cute Sena here seems to be an eroge maniac!
“Come on! Be honest! You don’t care about art or depth. Just admit it, that you are a pervert and you were getting horny watching that scene” And Yozora’s teasing is also hilarious.
“No! I just wanted to deepen my friendship with Cecilia. My feelings for her are pure!” Lol, Sena acting as if she was the main character or something! “Can’t you see what beautiful drawings it has?”
“Don’t show that to me, you pervert!”
“This isn’t anything embarrassing! Even if some part of the work is a little embarrassing, this is art!”
“Oh I see. Then read it out loud. I will do so as well. Just like in Japanese class, this is art after all”
Sena finally accepts, but Yozora actually tricked her. What she would read out loud is… Japanese literature, which is art just like Sena’s game, rather than actually reading the lines from the eroge together with her! Teary, Sena starts reading out Cecilia’s lines to prove it’s art, not something perverted.
“Lucas… quickly… I’m so w… w… wet down there…”
And you have to lol at Lucas’ lines…
“To become so wet just with a finger. Tell me that you want my holy sword, you lecherous pig!”
“Please, master, insert your… sword here”
“It has a name, what do you want?”
“I want Lucas’… Lucas’… co… STUPID YOZORA, DIE!!!!”
Says Sena as she runs away, crying.
Yozora meanwhile reads out some random Japanese literature poem, fulfilling her promise.
This chapter was absolutely hilarious, since I love it when girls get so embarrassed because they have to say some perverted lines. It reminds me of Koe de Oshigoto. Apart from that, I won’t say much since in this regard I’m usually alone against the world, but I prefer eroge to something artistic!
By the way, reading out perverted lines isn’t that embarrassing. This is a secret between me and you my few readers, but the other day I did that for the lulz on Twitter, reading out the lines from a Yosuga no Sora porn doujinshi. It was hysterically funny.
Allow me to skip half of the following chapter, for reasons I will explain in a minute. First of all, for those who love traps, the first person that Kodaka meets one day in the club room is a certain maid. Yozora? Sena? No! That’s Yukimura. So cute. Damn, even Kodaka looks at him and blushes, with not very friendly comments coming from both Sena and Yozora who find how Kodaka stares at Yukimura disgusting (one day, I hope those remarks will come out of jealousy. What BokuTomo needs now to become just perfect is romantic comedy elements)
The explanation is simple: this is the way to become a real man… that’s what Yozora (anego told him. The logic: even in that situation, dressed as a really cute maid, a man will still be a man. And for some reason Yukimura imagines his aniki dressing as a maid too and still being a delinquent. He blushes a little. Damn, so dangerous!!
By the way, the maid dress belongs to Yozora who says very ambiguously that she bought it on an online auction in case she needs it one day. Kodaka, and us too, suspects that she’s into cosplay. Just imagine, a cosplay maniac, an eroge maniac, a trap dressed as a maid.. this club is the embodiment of awesomeness.
As for the rest of the chapter, it’s a parody of that Momotarou tale. As I explained above, I’m not into literature, classical tales and the like, and this Momotarou tale is something I’m not familiar with, except for the name which was mentioned in Ookami-san. Therefore, all the parodies and references were just too obscure to me. Yozora says that they should learn acting, so they can pretend to be friends even with people they dislike. Kodaka’s role is that of a tree, even if they were short on people! I love this Kodaka bullying!
But I mostly skipped the rest of the chapter, since I wasn’t getting anything, so hey, I’m sorry! But did you know? Experts recommend that, when you study something, you have to understand it first before committing it to memory. In the same vein, I can’t just write a summary of something I don’t get. This isn’t a verbatim translation after all. And to make things worse, from what I read, Yozora subverting the classical tale by introducing “relative values instead of absolute good and evil imposed by the victors” took the parody too far into a direction I very much dislike, although that’s beyond the scope of this blog, let alone this post.
But fret not, more awesomeness is to come, as we finish volume 1 of this novel that is leaving a very good impression on me, no wonder so many people asked me to blog it!

Looking forward to number 2! I agree, this club surely is an embodiment of awesomeness.
The manga has this part translated, and it’s pretty funny.
Unfortunately, I cannot remember what it was about.
I just took 4 part in a row, my impression that this club goes in right direction.
The Momotarou scene is one of the most lulz worthy scenes here ^w^ But of course, my vote for favorite scene would have to be the eroge-playing in the church scene…
that…was just epic beyond words.
lol…. ITS A TRAP
lol, lots of Japanese kids these days had their parents dead huh?
dunno why, but if im writing a school life story, i’ll have them dead too
and if im not mistaken, Kobato didn’t call him onii-chan but an-chan instead(somehow i find it very cute when she said that)
Yeah you are right xD Although I never really put the word “oniichan” in her mouth
This chapter compelled me to watch “The Sacred Blacksmith”, the anime of the visual novel that Sena was playing. That bullying by Yosora scene was pure gold.
If I remember properly, Momotaro was the story of a kid that was born out of a peach three and he has to recruit 3 companions to travel to a demon island to prevent a huge crisis. Wikipedia has a short summary of the story; or better yet, you can read about Koei’s PSX game Saiyuki : Journey West (probably one of the most faithful representations). Yosora was trying to add a “Gundamesque” mood to the story, where the good guys weren’t “totally good” and the bad guys weren’t “totally bad”, everything was completely silly though.
Loli Imouto enter stage left. No School life story could be complete without cute girl that is related to male lead ( Or at least some cute young girl that would call him oni-chan or something like that).
Also i rally enjoyed every scene showed here. And only thing that make me mad is Yukimura. Or i to be more specific I’m mad that he is actually a guy, not a girl that is into crossdressing. Who woudl wish that. I certainly do, i mean you can’t be that feminine. It’s a crime that guy can be that cute. Seriously…Is that meaning I’m gay?
Lol, traps are a conspiracy after all!
i’ll still vote for ‘him’ to be in the harem anyway…
BokuTomo Update: Kobato is to be voiced by Kana Hanazawa in the Drama CD.
Now that, good gentlemen, is news of the sweetest kind…
I jizzed in my pants…
also loving the “sacred blacksmith” reference xDDDD i’d love to see that CG but with Aria instead of Cecily ~¬~
