New Year’s Anime Countdown – #2 Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

Well, number 2 is Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (many people had already guessed this would be in the top 3, unsurprisingly given how much I like the series). I have already written extensively about the series, so all I have to say is that the anime is really faithful to the novels and does a great job at portraying all the characters and situations in exactly the same way I had imagined them. Now, when I read the novels, I can even “hear” the seiyuu’s voices in my mind and picture them with the same style as the anime, which was the style already shown in Denpa Onna which I quite like.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – 12 (END)

And thus comes the best series of the season to an end. It is, as could be expected, an open end, and it’s a pity the series was only allotted 12 episodes because it is precisely when Kodaka realizes that his best friend Sora was Yozora, that the series starts moving forward. And I don’t know what’s the rationale behind this, probably something like business, but I can’t really understand why AIC hasn’t chosen to give BokuTomo 24 episodes, just like I can’t understand why AIC didn’t give Oreimo 24 episodes, that is, two seasons. Because both have been long-anticipated hits, so it making it a 24-episode adaptation doesn’t sound as risky as doing that for other series.

“Sora?”

“It’s been a long time, Taka”

Yes, yes, yes! Awesome heartwarming ending to a great episode. It’s such a crying shame the series is about to end, because we can consider everything up to now to be an introduction. It is at this moment, when the “last boss” forces Yozora cut her hair short, that Haganai proper starts. Because even for people unfamiliar with the novels and who may not have known, up to now, that Kodaka’s best (and only) friend before the start of the series was Yozora, and that Yozora actually knew that Kodaka was Taka all along, it’s crystal clear that Yozora loves him, and is feeling jealous of any other girl who gets his attention –and she has many rivals!

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – 10

Honestly, I’ve been waiting to see this scene for over a year. Yozora stepping on Sena, Sena actually feeling good but, embarrassed, jumping to her feet just in time to flash her Nikus to Kodaka and company. Yozora x Sena (SM relationship, of course) is a world full of awesome possibilities. Hoping a few doujinshi next Comiket will explore them!

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – 09

Ever since the anime was announced, and of course ever since I actually read the light novels, I’ve been waiting for this scene: Sena being seen naked by Kodaka while she was trying to raep Kobato-chan. Of course, the only way it could have been better is if we had seen Niku’s nipples, but all in all I can’t complain. Awesome episode with awesome stuff!

Solve the riddle

I love this picture. By the way, there are two siscons and two brocons in this picture, and Kodaka is neither a siscon nor a brocon (as far as I know). Can you solve the riddle?

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – 08

I’ve checked my summaries and I don’t remember such a “dramatic” end to the pool episode. Yes, in the novels Yozora and Rika went home since they hate crowded places, and I really know what it feels like since I hate such places myself almost to the level Yozora does, but I don’t remember Kodaka and co. suddenly getting so upset and going home too. Well, all I know is, if the pool was so crowded, I would have gone home too.

Yozora x Sena: SM

Haganai/Bokutomo has a welcome amount of fanservice, but if you ask me, the one scene that was really, really hot, in a very erotic sense, is (strangely enough?) that scene where Yozora starts teasing Sena (well, the usual thing), while pressing her finger against one of Sena’s nikus. I mean, the whole teasing, the whole situation where Sena is being humiliated in front of the others, it’s just hot. Look at the picture below: Sena lowers her head while Yozora, just by keeping her finger on Niku’s niku, has total control over her sub.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai gets an anime!

Well, as some of you may know, an anime adaptation of the Boku Wa Tomodachi Ga Sukunai light novels, which I summarized some months ago, has been announced. If the seiyuus are the same as those in the upcoming drama CD (as usual with this type of novels, Drama CD seems to announce an anime), we have an awesome lineup (in brackets roles I liked/I’m familiar with)
