Mayo Chiki! – Volume 6 (Part 5)

“Jirou, what’s with that pale face? You look as if you were scheduled for execution” Konoe is actually quite right. Jirou has just learned he will be fighting his arch-enemy Kureha. As you will know, his cute hyperactive imouto is the source of his gynophobia. Their mother is a wrestling maniac and Kureha her best apprentice. Kureha likes her oniichan very much, she’s more than likely a brocon, but she displays her affection through pro-wrestling moves, unaware of the pain and the trauma that they cause on her oniichan.

A little Oreimo 10 tease (spoiler warning!)

Hopefully this weekend I will finally start summarizing the tenth intalment of the Oreimo light novels. I’ve read around 50% of the novel, and of course what I just read earlier may have yet to be put into context, if it can, since I’m used to Oreimo teasing us, but still, this comes from Kuroneko’s mouth.

Mayo Chiki! – Volume 6 (Part 4)

Happy as Jirou should be that a cute girl (and a loli, even if older than him!!) has called him to the infirmary; as usual he’s cautious and distrustful. Well, they break the ice by talking about Shure’s name, which basically boils down to her father being a weirdo. No wonder, though. It was revealed in earlier volumes that he’s the famous creator of the Silent Lamb series! Yes, those cute, guro-looking lamb plushies that Konoe loves so much! We also learn that Shure-sempai likes pastries and cats (no, not eating cats!), if that’s of any relevance. But before anything else, Jirou wants to make clear one thing: he didn’t lay a hand on Shure’s imouto, Nakuru.

Mayo Chiki! – Volume 6 (Part 3)

So well, let’s go back to the tournament day. The three-legged race is about to begin, but it’s not your run-of-the-mill event. As Suzutsuki explains over the speakers, because she will be commentating on all the events throughout the day with guest commentator Sakamachi Kureha (awesome and fearsome combo!), it’s a “three-legged bread-eating borrowing-game race”!

Mayo Chiki! – Volume 6 (Part 2)

So after school they talk about what’s going to happen now. Suzutsuki prevented any further violence by suggesting they should settle things during the sports festival. Of course, she also clearly did it for her own amusement. Apparently, Shure-sempai wanted to organize a special event, but everyone knows about her tremendous strength and fears her, so by making Jirou and Konoe participate, she can also do her little event. Imagine how strong Shure-sempai is when Jirou’s imouto Kureha (aka “Little Monster”) refused to participate…

“Unless I go to the Room of Mind and Time I will not be able to defeat Schrödinger-sempai” (Yeah, DBZ reference!)

Mayo Chiki! – Volume 6 (Part 1)

We start volume 6 with a little description of Rouran Academy’s Handicraft Club, the one where Kureha (Jirou’s imouto), Masamune and Nakuru belong to. Because you know, a handicraft club is supposed to be… about girls making cute dolls and stuff like that. However, that club has an internal ranking that measures their combat power, their trip to the mountains was to fight bears and apparently they even carry out jobs the student council cannot officially do, and well, we all know what Kureha, the “Little Monster” as Jirou calls her, is like. However, no matter how much he asks around, nobody really knows, or wants to know, what the handicraft club does. “There are things you are better off not knowing” says handicraft club member Usami Masamune. And nobody knows anything, except for one thing:

“Never anger their vicepresident”. Their vicepresident, as he learned in last volume, is number one in their ranking. Even Kureha lost to her. So what could that person be like??

Mayo Chiki! – Volume 6 (Part 0)

Before starting to summarize the sixth volume of Mayo Chiki, that’s just after the anime ended, let us recap a little about what happened in volume 5, especially the last chapter which I don’t remember being in the anime. At the end of volume 4, Konoe cried at her mother’s grave because, now that she had actually made a friend (Jirou), she couldn’t introduce him to her mother. Jirou comforted her and after that, Konoe mustered all her courage and told Jirou that “she doesn’t just want to be friends with him”. But she got scared in the last moment and changed her confession into “we should be best friends rather than just friends!”. Being the dense guy he is, Jirou actually believed that was what she meant to Konoe’s misfortune.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – Volume 7 (Part 5)

Before the cultural festival, they have the sports festival, and the seitokaichou, a pretty, ojousama-looking girl as Kodaka remarks, gives a speech. Afterwards, Kodaka spots Yozora who isn’t feeling too well. She decided to attend the festival “on a whim” since she typically dislikes such events, but seeing the seitokaichou, Hidaka Hyuuga, has made her very angry.

“You don’t get along with her?” asks Kodaka.

“I have never even spoken to her, but I hate her. She’s so popular, and good at sports, and helps everyone around her. She’s admired by everyone in the school”

“That means she’s a really good person? I mean, almost a saint!”

“Exactly. A true riajuu”

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – Volume 7 (Part 4)

After the whole revelation about Sena and him being engaged, Kodaka happens to meet Kate, who tells him about Pegasus telling everyone about their engagement. Kate sighs relief when Kodaka tells her it’s all a misunderstanding. We all know well that Kate is also after Kodaka, but she seems to have so far thought Sena had the upper hand! Kodaka, damn you stop triggering flags already!! Who next? Aoi, that girl who has a one-sided rivalry with Sena? Well, let’s hope so!

Oreimo volume 10 next month!

Well, looks like Oreimo volume 10 is coming out next month (http://dengekibunko.dengeki.com/new/index.php#top1). The preview picture seems to be the one from last time, but I suppose the actual cover will be different. But the extract sounds really juicy.
